The 14^th Annual RISE Workshop was held on August 20-21, 2009 at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC. The Workshop began on Thursday evening with the traditional mixer, which was held in the UVic University Club.  The four-hour gathering allowed the fifteen 2009 RISE Scholars, faculty participants, and other guests to meet and get acquainted (or re-acquainted) with one another. The Workshop began bright and early the next morning, with a few opening remarks from Workshop host Cornelia Bohne. This was then followed by a series of presentations from the students on the research they carried out during the summer.  The day wrapped up with a fabulous meal at The Lure Restaurant at the waterfront in Victoria. 

The 2009 RISE Group owes special thanks to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Vice-President Research, and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Victoria for generous financial support, and to Dr. Cornelia Bohne and Ms. Cathy Rzeplinski for organizing the 2009 RISE Workshop.
