The University of British Columbia
Vancouver BC - August 22-23, 2013

RISE2013, this year's Reactive Intermediates Student Exchange conference, brought together this year’s RISE Scholars from across Canada to share their summer research results on the campus of UBC Vancouver. The one-day conference, held on August 23rd, featured research talks spanning a range of areas, including biological photophysics, photoredox catalysis, main group reactivity and catalysis, and the chemical behaviour of dyes. The conference opened with comments from Professor Michael D. Fryzuk, Head of the Department of Chemistry at UBC Vancouver. The conference concluded with a banquet at The Teahouse in Stanley Park after a guided tour of the city on one of Vancouver’s historic trolley buses.

This year’s conference was supported by the UBC Faculty of Science and Department of Chemistry, as well as generous sponsorship by the Inorganic and Organic Divisions of the Canadian Society for Chemistry and MBRAUN, Inc.. We are very thankful for the support provided by all of our sponsors.
